Phoenix CRC has identified five core values that define us. Each of us do better at living into some values more than others. We can grow in demonstrating each of them over time. Ideally, our values are shared convictions that shape our thinking and guide our lives.

Our values are:

  • Biblically-rooted living
  • Nurturing Spirit-filled relationships
  • Intimacy with Jesus
  • Intentional Stewardship of God’s gifts
  • Sharing the Father’s grace with lost people

The first value – biblically-rooted living – is foundational because it informs and enables the other values by the power of God’s Holy Spirit.

Reading the Bible is life-changing. The Bible testifies to this truth.

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
— Joshua 1:8 (NIV84)

I recommend all of Psalm 119 to be inspired to follow God’s Word, but since it is 176 VERSES, I’ll offer a one verse sample. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
— Psalm 119:105 (NIV84).

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
— 2 Timothy 3:16–17 (NIV)

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
— Hebrews 4:12 (NIV84)

However, the Bible will not do much for us if we leave on the shelf. Are you interested in motivation for reading the Bible?
