Classis Report
from March 7-8, 2025
Hello people of Phoenix CRC,
The ministries of Classis Arizona meet twice each year for mutual encouragement and accountability.
On Friday, we started with dinner at 6pm followed by a short worship service at Christ’s Community Church in Chandler. The most notable activity on Friday was the examination of elder Phil Fritschle. He was examined for a License to Exhort and he did great.
Phil is now approved to preach in any Classis Arizona ministry that asks him to preach on a Sunday when pulpit supply is needed.
Classis prayed for an extended time on Friday for all Classis ministries. We also prayed for Pastor Jose Rayas (whose family has endured many serious medical issues) and for Pastor Fred Bates (who was mostly paralyzed from the waist down in the tragic car accident that also took the life of his son.)
On Saturday, Pastor Rod Hugen gave the Mission Southwest report, including an update on the classis-funded purchase of the Tree House. Classis extended funding for three pastoral interns and gave a grant to Iglesia Reformada de Chandler.
Classis approved a Values document for Classis AZ. The document is intended to guide Classis actions. We value…
- Seeking God together
- Developing relationships
- Discipleship of new and young leaders
- Planting of new churches
Classis approved an overture asking Synod 2025 to edit the Covenant for Officebearers form in such a way that it would be less theologically restrictive.
If you have a question, talk to any Classis delegate, Elder Mark, Deacon Raquel, Deacon Andrea, Pastor Frank, or Pastor Andy.
Praise God for the ongoing work of Classis! Classis will meet next on September 19-20, 2025, at Mission Church in Tucson.
